Developing strong leadership skills can be challenging without the proper resources and guidance. The Beth-El Student Nurse Association (BSNA) is an organization that prioritizes community service and fosters leadership by actively engaging in a variety of outreach initiatives.
As a volunteer with the association, I have had the opportunity to contribute to a range of activities aimed at improving the well-being of the entire community, not just the students. For example, I participated in the annual Pediatric Toy Drive, which provided gifts to children who were celebrating the holidays away from family due to medical needs. We also collaborated with the American Red Cross for the BSNA Blood Drive, an event that encouraged students and faculty to donate blood in return, saving an estimated three lives with every donation.
Each of these activities has reinforced the importance of community service and how important it is to take care of the community that has taken care of you. Through these experiences, I have learned valuable lessons in leadership, including the importance of teamwork, effective communication, and the ability to adapt to different surroundings. I have learned the importance of empowering others to volunteer within their community. It has reminded me that small acts of kindness can go a long way.
