A Slice of Kindness

Four happy people behind a counter with pizzas in warmer bags.

Royal Neighbors Chapter 20174 had the privilege of serving the St. Joseph Evening Meal, where everyone is welcomed with warm smiles. The guests were treated to a delicious menu of pizza, fresh garden salad, and their choice of banana, mandarin oranges, or a string cheese stick. Of course, dinner is not complete without dessert, and they had delicious chocolate chip cookies available.

The St. Joseph Evening Meal is one of many vital programs offered through Rock Island Township. This free meal site is open to all and is held every Monday through Friday (except on some holidays). Examples of the other additional resources they offer are a food pantry, work readiness assistance, clothing donations, senior care vouchers, access to a warming/cooling center during extreme temperatures, and more.

Chapter members experienced joy from connecting with the wonderful people who attended. While helping fill bellies, their conversations warmed hearts. This act of service shows how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in the lives of those receiving and also in the lives of those serving.
