Nation of Neighbors recipient Pam Westers

Pam Westers, cofounder of Beautiful You by Profile, is the recipient of a 2023 Nation of Neighbors℠ empowerment award and a $10,000 grant.

Beautiful You was co-founded by Pam, owner of Profile Salon & Spa, and Salon Coordinator Kim Sheets. After seeing a documentary about a salon that was supporting women who were undergoing active cancer treatment in New York, Pam and Kim felt called to do the same.

“We began serving a few women in a private room in my salon,” shared Pam. “Since 2014, we have served thousands of incredible women throughout Michigan.”

The organization now operates out of the space next to the salon solely dedicated to Beautiful You clients. The staff and volunteers provide a comfortable space where clients can experience services privately or include their family and friends.

When women join the Beautiful You program, they receive a series of appointments that may include a head shave, wig fitting, pedicure, manicure, highlights, and massage. “Every time I hear a story about the joy a woman experiences after an appointment, I feel motivated and uplifted,” shared Pam. “I can never stop doing this!”

All women in the program receive a complimentary synthetic wig and headcover. “Women visit us when they are most vulnerable,” said Pam. “We want them to leave every visit feeling good about themselves inside and out – and we’ve never had someone leave unhappy.”

In addition to their services in the salon, Beautiful You works with three local hospitals. “We have generous hospitals in our area that allow us to do head shaves and wig fittings on-site,” said Pam.

Beautiful You will use their Nation of Neighbors grant to purchase more wigs, head coverings, and supplies for chemotherapy comfort bags. “When we started, we didn’t know the first thing about operating a nonprofit, but God always stepped in and made it possible,” said Pam. “I am grateful for every staff member, volunteer, and community partner who help us give back to deserving women in our community.”
